DNA has unique properties that allow it to accurately retain genetic information, even after multiple rounds of replication. One aspect of DNA that allows it to accurately store genetic information is the base pairing from Chargaff's first rule of the four nucleotide bases. If the A content of a DNA molecule is 22%, what are the percentages of the remaining bases?

Answer:

T= 22%

G= 28%

C=28%

Explanation:

With the help of Chargaff's rule, the percentage of each of the four types of nucleotide bases in a double-stranded DNA can be calculated. It is based on complementary base pairing rule which in turn makes the percentage of adenine bases equal to that of the thymine bases in a double-stranded DNA. Similarly, percentage of guanine and cytosine bases in a DNA duplex is equal since G always pairs with C. Therefore, if a DNA duplex has 22% adenine nucleotides, percentage of thymine bases would be= 22%

Total percentage of A and T bases in the given DNA= 22 + 22 = 44%

Total percentage of G and C bases = 100-44= 56%

Percentage of G and C bases each= 56/2= 28%

The trp and lac operons are regulated in various ways. how do bacteria regulate transcription of these operons? sort the stateme
Elza [17]
I found the exercise on the internet. Attached is a picture of the statements and the bins.

Operon is not transcribed:
-trp operon: tryptophan present (tryptophan works as an inhibitor of the operon)
-lac operon: lactose absent (lactose works as the trigger for the operon)

Operon is transcribed but not sped up by positive control:
-trp operon: tryptophan absent (tryptophan works as an inhibitor of the operon, when absent the operon is active)
-lac operon: lactose present, glucose present (lactose works as the trigger for the operon, but when glucose is present, the operon activity remains only at basal level)

Operon is transcribed quickly by positive control:
-lac operon: lactose present, glucose absent (lactose works as the trigger for the operon, but when glucose is absent, the operon activity is at its maximum activity)

Summarize the main events of the electron transport chain
Masja [62]

The electron transport chain linked with chemiosmosis constitutes the second stage of aerobic respiration. ATP is produced by the electron transport chain when NADH and FADH2 release hydrogen atoms, regenerating NAD+ and FAD.

How does heart rate relate to homeostasis?
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

The cardiovascular system helps to maintain homeostasis with respect to body temperature. An increased heart rate increases the delivery of blood to your skin. Increased blood flow to your skin and sweating causes dissipation of heat, and body temperature remains within normal limits.
