Answer:

“The Charge of the Light Brigade” celebrates an act of bravery and sacrifice—a suicidal cavalry charge during the Crimean war. Written just six weeks later, Tennyson's poem argues that the willingness of the cavalry to sacrifice themselves—without calling their orders into question—makes them heroes.Tennyson relates how the cavalry (the 'Light Brigade') attacked, showing heroic bravery and discipline, despite severe artillery fire from three directions. They failed to defeat the gunners and were forced to retreat, losing more than two hundred killed outright, wounded or captureThe Charge of the Light Brigade is an emotive poem which both praises and laments the action of the battle. During the Crimean War the idea of the heroic and brave British soldier emerged, whose moral duty was to fight for justice. Previously military heroes were gentleman of the upper classes.
