Concave mirrors can form virtual images which depend on the distance between the object and the mirror. An object placed between a concave mirror and the focal point is beyond the focal point, and the image will be placed at the point where the rays appear to diverge. In consequence, a virtual and erect image will be formed behind the concave mirror, and the size of this image will be smaller than the object.
