Explanation:

This is an excerpt from what is known as a war message by United States President James Madison to the US Congress in 1812. He sent the message on June 1st, 1812. Paragraph 1:

It was the the year 66 AD when the Jews of Judea rebelled against the Romans. In response to the rebel Nero the Roman Emperor sent out an army under the command of Vespasian. By the year 68, the rebellion in the northern part of the province had been abolished. After that the Romans decided to turn their entire focus towards the attack on Jerusalem. During the same year Nero had committed suicide. This created a power vacuum in Rome. In the chaos, Vespasian was declared Emperor. Command of the army then fell into Nero's son Titus's hands.

Paragraph 2

The Romans surrounded the city and began to push in on the Jewish stronghold. By the year 70, nearly 2 years of fighting the Romans finally breached Jerusalem's outer walls and began to destroy the city. The attack ultimately led to the burning and destruction of the Temple that served as the center of Judaism. This finally led to the fall of Jerusalem.
