Just like convection in air, when denser water sinks, its space is filled by less dense water moving in. This creates convection currents that move enormous amounts of water in the depths of the ocean.

A region's vegetation is LEAST likely to affect which of the following characteristics of a place?
ohaa [14]

A region's vegetation is LEAST likely to affect the preservation of folk culture.

That is because the presence of vegetation in a given land, while it is featured in the local people's culture (represented in their pictorial arts or in their cuisine, for example), does not necessarily endanger the preservation of the culture as a whole.

However, if the economy and/or the agriculture are reliant on this type of vegetation, a change in the vegetation can have direct consequences on these activities. Similarly, if a plant is important in the people's diet, they are more likely to gather around the areas where the plant grows (distribution of population). And if the plant is less available, the population may stop thriving, reproduce less, and maybe emigrate (size of population).

How is continental movement measured?
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

Explanation:

Geodesy, the science of measuring the Earth's shape and positions on it, allows the measurement of plate motion directly using GPS, the Global Positioning System. This network of satellites is more stable than the Earth's surface, so when a whole continent moves somewhere at a few centimeters per year, GPS can tell.

GPS uses a system of satellites to triangulate the position of a receiver anywhere on Earth. By using a network of receivers near plate boundaries, scientists can very accurately determine how the plates behave
