Why did songs by musicians like chuck berry and little richard capture the devotion of teen fans in the 1950s?
dmitriy555 [2]
They captured teenage themes--Chuck Berry and Little Richard sung upbeat songs focused on consumerism, cars, dances, and teenage life in general.

Early rock n' roll was new and different representing a new take on music. The upbeat rhythm allowed for teenagers to dance and enjoy their youth. The songs commented on car culture, dating, and school which teenagers could connect to.

Drag and drop the words and phrases to match the empire. (Sort to category)
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

Roman Empire: Centred on Rome, Latin was the official language, Roman Catholic church.

Byzantine empire: Centred on Constantinople, Greek was the official language, Eastern Orthodox Church.

Explanation:

Rome was one of the important and most powerful civilisations that ruled much of Europe for almost 1000 years. Latin and Greek were its official languages. Latin was their original language and remained the language of military, legislation and administration throughout the classical period. After the fall of Roman Empire in 476, the catholic church was competing with the Arian Christians to convert the barbarian tribes and became the dominant form of Christianity. In Roman Catholicism monastic communities were centres for learning and preservation of classical culture.

Greek civilisation lasted from the Greek Dark ages to the end of antiquity. It was at its climax under the rule of Alexander the Great. He conquered Syria, Judea, Gaza, Anatolia, Egypt , Persia , Mesopotamia and Bactria. Greek Orthodox church is related to Byzantine Empire because its history, theology and traditions are related to Early church fathers and the Culture of Byzantine. They conformed to the christian faith as represented in the creeds of the early church.

Define Seditious Speech and give an example
GarryVolchara [31]
Any speech that is made with the intention of inciting a violent and unlawful uprising against the administration is called a seditious speech. Such utterances may call for a rebellion against government institutions or its military, thus jeopardizing the internal security of the country.During World War I, Charles Schenck, the leader of the American Socialist Party, attempted to dissuade freshly-drafted soldiers in the US army from serving, by distributing thousands of pamphlets that claimed only the 'ruling classes' would benefit from their sacrifices. While Schenck was charged by the government in 1919, for violating the Espionage Act, which forbade interference in military recruitment, he appealed to the Supreme Court, saying that his right to free speech granted by the First Amendment, was being denied. Finally, the Court ruled in favor of the government, stating that the right to free speech was not limitless, and Schenck's actions had the potential to cause 'clear and present danger' to the administration, which Congress had the right to prevent.
