The division of the world into two poles, however, ensured the continuation of regional conflicts: Korea, Vietnam, for example. US and USSR financed these conflicts. Peace, however, would have to be guaranteed by the newly created UN, by international alliances and by the financial assistance of the powers to rebuild the destroyed countries.</span>
