How does Diaz use metaphors and similes to create meaning in "A Brother Named Gethsemane"?
slega [8]

In the story, it can be deduced that metaphors and similes were important in allowing the speaker to be more expressive.

What is a metaphor?

A metaphor simply means comparing something with another thing without using "like" or "as". A simile means the comparison that has to do with using "like" or "as".

In the story, metaphors and similes were important in allowing the speaker to be more expressive. This was also important in making the author effectively state the theme.

Help me pleaseeeeeeeeeee
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

Hi there!

My favorite sport is -insert team sport- I first knew about this sport because -insert sibiling or friend- played it before me. I wanted to follow in their footsteps when I was younger, so I started to play -insert sport- as well. I usually practice this sport about four times a week, but it is sometimes different depending on the week. This is my favorite sport because it is fun to play, it is a team sport, and because it teaches the players teamwork, which I think is very important in every day life. My favorite position on this sport is -insert position-. I like this because -give why-. I would reccomend this sport to people, becuase it teaches you a good life lesson, while you are having fun.

try to change the words a little bit to make then 1. sound more like how you ususally write, and 2. so you dont get marked off for plagerism.

Let me know if you want a different sport or anything, this is just the only sport i play haha

Have a good day! :)

The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of the girl sewing or washing
sattari [20]

The word that best describes the tone in this stanza is: happy.

This stanza was taken from the poem I Hear America Singing, by Walt Whitman. It's a poem of patriotism, of pride of each and every person who helps build America and make it what it is. Everyone is important: the carpenters, the mechanics, the masons, the mothers, the wives. All of them sing their melodious songs of freedom and opportunity.
