Four soccer players are running down the field at the same speed. Player 1 weighs 145 lbs and is running toward the north goal,

player 2 weighs 175 lbs and is running toward the south goal, player 3 weighs 155 lbs and is running toward the south goal, player 4 weighs 185 lbs and is running toward the north goal. Which player has the most momentum?

Answer:

Player 4

Explanation:

Momentum is basically how much motion an object has or can also be defined as "mass in motion." It is computed by getting the product of velocity and mass.

P = mv

where:

P is momentum

m is mass

v is velocity

So if you interpret this, the more velocity you have, the more momentum.

Likewise, the more mass you have, the more momentum you have.

As the momentum increases, the harder it would be for the object to stop.

Since the velocities of the players are the same, then all you need to determine is who is the heaviest?

Player 4 weighs 185 lbs, so he has the most momentum.

PRACTICE ANOTHERA rabbit is hopping along at an approximately constant speed of 4.2 m/s. The rabbit passes a crouched cat ready
V125BC [204]

Answer:

16.8 seconds

Explanation:

Given that:

Constant speed of rabbit = 4.2 m/s

Initial Velocity (u) of cat = 0

Acceleration (a) of cat = 0.5 m/s²

Time it takes cat to catch rabbit ;

Using the relation:

Distance moved by rabbit (Dr) :

Dr = speed * time ; Dr = 4.2t

Distance moved by Cat (Dc) :

Dc = ut + 0.5at^2

Dc = 0 + 0.5at^2

Hence, Cat will catch rabbit when Dr = Dc

4.2t = 0.5at^2

4.2t = 0.5(0.5)t^2

4.2t = 0.25t^2

Divide both sides by t

4.2 = 0.25t

t = 4.2 / 0.25

t = 16.8 seconds

Hence, the cat will catch the rabbit after 16.8 seconds
