La reproducción sexual indirecta no implica una interacción física entre los dos organismos de la misma especie, pero entonces, ¿cómo ocurre? Verás, este tipo de reproducción es mayormente utilizado por organismos que viven en el agua o por las plantas. Debido a que estos tienen muy poco o no nulo movimiento, estos organismos expulsan al ambiente sus células sexuales. Cuando estas células se encuentren con las células sexuales del otro género ocurre la fertilización, generando nuevos organismos. Un ejemplo claro de esto son las estrellas de mar, que viven en sustratos donde no tienen tanto movimiento, por lo que optan por expulsar sus gametos.

Reproducción asexual. Aquí no intervienen dos individuos de sexos distintos para generar un nuevo organismo como ocurre en la reproducción sexual, sino que a partir de un solo progenitor se crean uno o más seres vivos. Esto significa que un organismo se parte o se divide y que a partir de ese fragmento se genera uno o más organismos idénticos morfológicamente y que poseen la misma información genética. Este tipo de reproducción ocurre en los animales, las plantas y en microorganismos como las bacterias.
