In "Ambush," the author recalls how he made a choice during the war that he came to regret for the rest of his life. In "Facing It," the author recalls seeing a war memorial, and the memories this brought back. In both cases, the thoughts of the men are fragmented and conflicted, which allows the authors to develop tension.
