• For example, if we are given a data set {2, 6, 4, 10, 8, 12}. First, we line them up by increasing order, which becomes {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12}. Since it is an even number set, we get our median from the two numbers in the middle, which are {6, 8}. We add them together to get 14 and then divide by 2 which is 7. So the median will be 7.
