3 Which statement best describes a cause and its effect that occurs during the process of muscle contraction? A. The release of
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:A. The release of calcium ions causes myosin and actin to attach to each other.

The contraction of skeletal muscles takes place by induction of a nerve impulse, which produces a movement and the interaction of the filaments containing proteins named as actin and myosin. This interaction of filaments is regulated by proteins  called tropomyosin and troponin present on the actin filaments. The motor nerve causes the depolarization of the muscle membrane sarcolemma. This triggers the sarcoplasmic reticulum to release calcium ions. This calcium binds to troponin and thus allows the tropomyosine strand on the actin filament to displace so that the part of the actin where myosine head needs to be attached remain uncovered. Binding of the actin myosine filament results in contraction.

Hence, the release of calcium ions causes myosin and actin to attach to each other causes muscle contraction.

In what way do the nervous and endocrine systems differ in a way
Simora [160]

The nervous system communicates through electrical impulses and the communication is very fast. It works in a relay fashion, from point to point comparable to the way the old telephones systems used to work.

The endocrine system communicates by chemical signals via the bloodstream. Hormones are secreted into the blood and extra cellular fluids, then transported to target cells, which must bear a receptor to be able to bind to a specific hormone, and respond.

Hormones are chemical messengers secreted into blood or extracellular fluid that affect the function of other cells.

Endocrine communication is not quite as fast as the nervous system communication

The atoms of elements sometimes become "sequestered" in the environment. which of the following is an example of this?
Marta_Voda [28]

d. carbon atoms in ocean water

Explanation:

The carbon atoms in ocean water is one of the ways through which carbon is sequestered in nature.

Sequestration of carbon implies the storage of carbon either naturally or artificially for a very long time.

Carbon sequestration cuts off carbon from the normal biogeochemical cycle and stores it in natural reservoirs for a very long duration.

  • In nature, carbon is sequestered a whole lot through biological and chemical activities.
  • Phytoplanktons are food producers. When consumed by higher organisms, their organic materials which contains carbon can become sequestered when the consumer dies and falls to the bottom of the ocean.
  • Organisms that used carbonate to manufacture their shells in the ocean also sequesters carbon.

What are the problems encountered during the conduct of the activity in sensory evaluation?
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

Sensory Evaluation

Sensory evaluation defined as the ‘systematic study of human response to physico-chemical properties’ makes it possible to obtain information about the sensitivity of the human sense and about the four dimensions of the sensory perception, i.e. the quantitative, the qualitative, the temporal and the hedonic dimensions.
