Let x be he length of middle piece.
3x = length of longer piece.
x-5 = length of shortest piece.

x + 3x + x-5 = 40
5x - 5 = 40
5x = 45
x = 45/5
x = 9. ( Size of middle piece )

Given that the longer piece is 3 times the size of middle piece,

Longest piece = 3 x 9 = 27.

Size of longest piece = 27 feet
Size of middle piece = 9 feet
Size of smaller piece = 40 - (27+9)
= 40 - 36
= 4 feet.
Thank you.

suppose a rabbit population of 10 rabbits trippled every 2 months. write an exponential function that represents the population
tangare [24]

Answer:

exponential function that represents the population of rabbits : 10*3^{\frac{x}{2} }

number of rabbits after 2 years : 10*3^{12}

Step-by-step explanation:

  • initially there are 10 rabbits. since the will be trippled  every 2 months, i have multiplied it with 3^{\frac{x}{2} }. I have divided x by 2 because, here x represents number of months and it will be trippled only AFTER EVERY 2 MONTHS.
  • variable x: it represents number of months.
  • two years= 2*12 months
  • now substitute x= 2*12 in the above function.
  • number of rabbits after 2 years = 10*3^{\frac{2*12}{2} }  = 10*3^{12}

Hoochie [10]

Answer:

B.

Step-by-step explanation:

process of elimination. the red dot is not a 1/4 of the number of lines, so it cant be 12.25, 13.625 is impossible because it has a value less than 13, and 12.625 is impossible as well because it has a value less than 12.5 therefore 12.375 is the best answer, and the only correct answer

Alyssa had 45$ to spend on 6 snacks.after buying them she had 12$ left how much did each snack cost?
Radda [10]

Each snack cost $5.50

You start with $45, and afterwards end up with $12, so subtract 12 from 45 and you end up with 33. Then divide 33 by 6, since she bought 6 snacks, and you get $5.50.

Multiply -2 with x equaling -2x
Multiply -2 with +6 equaling -12
Y - 5 = -2x - 12
Add 12 on both sides
Y - 5 + 12 = -2x - 12 + 12
Y + 7 = -2x
Divide by -2 on both sides

Y + 7 / -2 = -2x/-2

Y + 7
------- = x
