His motto is „I want to believe“, and he truly believes that his sister was abducted by aliens when he was young boy. On the other hand, his partner Scully is a scientist, and she does not believe in aliens. She is repeating that one should have the real scientific evidence first before he could claim that there is an extraterrestrial life. Mulder is irrational, and Sculy is rational.
