Answer:

B. stage of exhaustion.

Explanation:

The options for this question are missing, the options are:

A. alarm stage.

B. stage of exhaustion.

C. stage of adaptation.

D. first stage.

In psychology, the General Adaptation System describes the response the body goes through after being exposed to an stressor.

The stages are:

 • Alarm: This happens when we first perceive something as stressful and we go on a fight-or-flight response.
 • Resistance: When the stress continues, the body makes an effort to overcome the stress. However, the body cannot achieve this goal forever and then it goes to the last stage.
 • Exhaustion: Once the person has been prolongedly exposed to the stressor, the body's resources deplete and the body functions start to deteriorate and falls ill.

In this example, Philip worked 16 hours a day for a week to complete his work before going on vacation. We can see that this was a stressor for Philip. He ends up falling ill and spending his vacation recovering from the illness. We can see that Philip's body tried to cope with the stress generated by his work but eventually its resources depleted and Philip fell ill. Thus he is in the Stage of Exhaustion.

Answer:

D. reductionism

Explanation:

Reductionism is the philosophical position characterized by the thesis that the properties of the whole can be reduced to the properties of its parts, thus reducing the number of elements in a theory or conclusion and can be applied to phenomena, theories, meanings, objects and even explanations. It is a metaphysical position that consists in the hypothesis that reality is composed of a minimum number of types of entities or substances. An example of this was the case of Henry Handsome who, because of the emergence of a European bank, interpreted that it would be beneficial for his wealthy friends to sell his shares. Henry believed that a whole could be reduced to its parts.
