Answer is D. hijacking of host cell's metabolic action.

In lytic cycle, phages multiplies inside the host bacterium by using the protein synthesis machinery of the bacterium and new viral particles comes out by lysing or by rupturing the host bacterial cell wall. Examples are T phages, T2, T4, T6 etc.

In lysogenic cycle, the phages does not undergo multiplication or induce breakdown of bacterium. In this the viral DNA gets integrated into the bacterial DNA without causing lysis and uses protein synthesis machinery of the bacterium to make viral protein. For example Lambda phages. Therefore, in both lytic and lysogenic cycle, virus uses host metabolism.

melisa1 [442]

Answer:

It is a facultative anaerobic organism.

Explanation:

This organism makes ATP (energy provider molecule) by aerobic respiration in presence of oxygen, but when oxygen is removed it is capable of switching to fermentation (sugar consumption increases and growth rate decreases).

This happens because fermentation is much less effective at producing ATP and therefore there is not enough energy for growth.

This organisms are called facultative anaerobic.

Organisms with this type of metabolism include bacteria like Escherichia coli and Salmonella or yeast like Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
