I think you are correct
y=ab^x
1=ab^3
4=ab^5
divide the second equation by the first one, you get b^2=4, so b=2
plug b=2 either equation you get b=1/8

In one U.S. city, the quadratic function f (x )equals 0.0039 x squared minus 0.42 x plus 36.79 models the median, or average,
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

The average age was minimum at 1954 and the average age is 25.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given quadratic function is

f(x)=0.0039x^2-0.42x+36.79

It models the median, or average, age, y, at which men were first married x years after 1900.

In the above equation leading coefficient is positive, so it is an upward parabola and vertex of an upward parabola, is point of minima.

We need to find the year in which the average age was at a minimum.

If a quadratic polynomial is f(x)=ax^2+bx+c, then vertex is

Vertex=(-\dfrac{b}{2a},f(-\dfrac{b}{2a}))

-\dfrac{b}{2a}=-\dfrac{(-0.42)}{2(0.0039)}=53.846153\approx 54

54 years after 1900 is

1900+54=1954

Substitute x=54 in the given function.

f(54)=0.0039(54)^2-0.42(54)+36.79=25.4824\approx 25.5

Therefore, the average age was minimum at 1954 and the average age is 25.5.

A food pantry distributes 10-ounce bags of flour. A supermarket donates nine 5-pound bags to the pantry. How many 10-ounce bags
DanielleElmas [232]
Given:
nine 5 pound bags
distributed into 10-ounce bags

1 pound = 16 ounces

9 x 5 pounds = 45 pounds

45 pounds * 16 ounces/lbs = 45 * 16 oz = 720 ounces

720 ounces / 10 ounce bags = 720/10 = 72 bags.

The workers at the food pantry will be able to make 72 bags.

A recipe for 1 batch of muffins included 2/3 cup of raisins. She made 2 1/2 batches of muffins. How many cups of raisins did she
choli [55]

Answer:

If she made <u>2</u> <em>1/2</em> batches of muffins and you had 2/3 of raisins per 1 batch then you'd have a total of 1 2/3 cups of raisins

Step-by-step explanation:

1 batch= 2/3 cups

<u>2 batches</u>=4/3 cups or 1 and 1/3 cups

<em>1/2 batch</em>= 1/2 of 2/3= 1/3 cups

2 batches+1/2 batches= 1 and 1/3 cups+1/3 cups

1 and 1/3 cups+1/3 cups= 1 and 2/3 cups of raisins
