During the progressive era these groups of people wanted to increase their rights and reduce discrimination since they were inspired by everything that was happening during reconstruction. There was a lot of migration into the US and they usually weren't very welcome by locals so they organized into various groups that petitioned acts and laws to be changed so as to have them included more into the fabric of society. Native Americans fought for their land while Asians mostly fought for their civil rights since they were poorly treated because of their race.
