When Oedipus asks the blind prophet for his advice, the chorus is confused because of the answer the prophet provides. He accuses the King Oedipus of being the murderer of the previous king. The chorus are now confused and afraid of the whole situation.

No one can believe that the accusations are truth. They're unsure as to whom they should believe in since phrophets are considered emissaries of the gods and its impossible for them to be mistaken. They now found themselves conflicted.

Hope this helps !

Select Proportional or Not Proportional to correctly classify each pair of ratios.
morpeh [17]

Answer:

Yes, it is proportional.

Proportions Explained:

Draw 2 triangles, triangle ABC and triangle DEF. Label any 2 sides of triangle ABC as measuring 18" and 4". Label the 2 corresponding sides of triangle DEF as measuring 72" and 16".

When you see if 18/72 and 4/16 are proportional, you are seeing if triangle ABC and triangle DEF are similar. One way to do it is with proportions, which is the way we are doing it. When making proportions, you want to put corresponding sides into the same fraction. For example, let's say you labeled side AB as 18" and side BC as 4". In triangle DEF, let's say you labeled side DE as 72" and side EF as 16". When making proportions, you want to put the corresponding side lengths (AB and DE) into the same fraction. Second fraction, same way. Just remember that the second fraction has to correspond with the first fraction. If you put the side length of triangle ABC on top and the side length of triangle DEF on bottom, you need to do the same for the second fraction.

But, they did the previous steps and want you to do the rest:

Now you have two fractions: AB/DE and BC/EF, or 18/72 and 4/16. Fully reduce each fraction, and if they come out to the same fully reduced fraction, they are proportional and the two triangles are similar. 18/72 reduces to 1/4 and 4/16 reduced to 1/4. 1/4=1/4, so the final answer is yes.

Which central idea should be included in a paraphrase of this excerpt?
Inessa [10]

The answer is A. The men send by Odysseus to investigate the land they had landed upon became forgetful after eating Lotus plants.

EXPLANATION

The excerpt is from an ancient Greek poem titled The Odyssey. The Odyssey is attributed to Homer and a sequel to Iliad. The Odyssey is the second-oldest extant work of Western literature, it is seen as the fundamental to the modern Western canon. Iliad is the oldest, and The Odyssey is the second oldest. It is believed that The Odyssey was composed around the end of the 8th century BC, somewhere in Ionia, around the Greek coastal region of Anatolia.

The poem is focusing on a Greek hero named Odysseus, he is the main character of the poem. Odysseus is also known as Ulysses in the Roman myths. Odysseus was the king of Ithaca. Allegedly, it takes Odysseus ten years to finally reach Ithaca after the Trojan War that lasts for 10 years long.

Because of his absence, it is finally assumed that Odysseus had died, and his wife Penelope with his son Telemachus has to deal with a group of unruly suitors, the Mnesteres or Proc. They compete for Penelope’s hand in marriage.

The Odyssey was first written in Homeric Greek. Later, The Odyssey was translated into a lot of modern languages all around the world. The poem tells about the influence of events on choices about women and slaves, besides the actions of fighting man. These days, the word Odyssey is also known as an epic voyage.
