How is the adjective and adverb used here? 'She walked slowly to it; to the elongated, black, metal gate.'
baherus [9]

Answer: The adverb slowly describes the verb walked. It basically says HOW the person walks (like did they walk fast, slow, at an average pace, etc., and in this case, it says that they walked in a slow manner).

Edit: so I’m assuming effect is like the mood of the story created, and I’d say that it creates a somber, suspenseful feeling, opposed to if she was walking quickly, which would create a rushed mood.

The word flunked is definitely colloquial.
Colloquial words are those which are considered to be informal, words you wouldn't normally used in a formal conversation, but rather when you are talking to your friends, for example. In formal situations, you'd have to use their formal counterparts.
If you can choose more than one option, I'd also pick trig, as it is short for trigonometry, but if there is only one correct option, then it's definitely flunked.
