let "W" represent the width of the rectangle

Area of the rectangle = LW

68= LW --------eqn 1

Area of a square = L/2 ×L/2

34= L^2/4

136=L^2

L= 11.67

From eqn 1 , W=68/L

W=68/11.6619

W=5.83
