In five years, I see myself in college pursuing a course in journalism. Hopefully it’s a good college, maybe one of the top schools in my country if I somehow managed to pass. I can see myself living in a small apartment not too far from my university but far enough to not be disturbed by the busy school scene, maybe with my cat.

I am offering this poem to you,
Oxana [17]

Answer:

2. Simile

1. Thick socks

2. Warmth and comfort

Explanation:

Both simile and metaphor are figures of speech used to compare two things. However, there is a difference. The simile is a more direct comparison than the metaphor. It uses words like and as, while the metaphor omits them, stating that something is something else.

As we can see here, in the fifth line, the word like is used: ... or like a pair of thick socks... This shows us that the poet is using a simile. He compares his poem to a pair of thick socks, suggesting that it can provide warmth and comfort.
