The food chain is the systematic expression of how each living thing gets sustenance, and how supplements and vitality are passed from animal to animal. The food chain starts with the producers and ends with different level of consumers.

It has series of trophic level shown with the help of arrow. The arrow in the food chain represents the way through which the energy flows form one level to the next level. Sometimes the flow of energy may be seen form bottom to top and in some cases it is vice versa.
