Pros

Excellent exercise.
Can help improve not only fitness, but coordination, movement ability, and spatial awareness.
Good social environment. Although martial arts aren’t team sports, you interact frequently/regularly with other participants who share those interests.
Can help eliminate nervous energy.
Can, in some cases, help with people who have physical or psychological issues. (Look, for example, at programs designed for children with behavioral issues. Or programs designed for people with physical issues. My son helped develop a program for kids with ADHD.)
Can enhance self-confidence and help (especially with kids) with discipline.
Can help with self-defense. (Note: I don’t recommend taking a martial art in place of a self-defense course if the goal is strictly to learn self-defense. However, it can supplement those courses, or provide self-defense knowledge as an added benefit to the others listed here. It also depends on which martial art you learn. BJJ or Muay Thai can be very helpful. Some others—or those where people only practice forms (particularly musical forms!)—not so much.)
Gives you a new skill.
Can be an enjoyable hobby.
For people who like competing, there are tournaments for many martial arts. On the other hand, you can learn martial arts without competing—I know people who are great in things like BJJ and even MMA—who aren’t interested in competing. Martial arts are flexible that way.
Cons

Learning martial arts takes an investment in money. That investment might be fairly small (county-sponsored recreational programs, for example) or large (private gyms with top-ranked instructors). It’s not unusual to spend $150 a month or more on martial arts programs.
Learning martial arts takes an investment in time. Of course, it depends on how much you want to train. But if you’re moderately interested, figure on 90 minutes 3 times a week.
Injuries: You’ll get injured. Maybe really minor things. Maybe more serious items—a torn ACL, a broken arm, etc. Serious injuries are rare, but they do happen.
Cost for equipment. This depends on the sport/art, of course. There’s typically a uniform. Maybe some padding. Maybe gloves. Maybe special footwear. That could run $150-$300. And some of that gets worn out or outgrown after a while.

Do you think modular instruction is the best alternative way of delivering instruction in this time of pandemic
Akimi4 [234]

Answer and Explanation:

Because of the pandemic, modular instruction is a good alternative to maintain learning continuity. However, this does not mean that this type of instruction does not present challenges, which need to be overcome quickly, so that students have a good learning experience.

As we know, modular instruction uses instructional materials, which, despite being created according to the educational needs of each student, can be very difficult for students to understand outside the classroom. These modules can be difficult even for parents of students, who are unable to help their children understand the content.

In this case, I agree that modular instruction is a good alternative, but it is necessary to solve these problems in order for it to be efficient.

How did Thoreau’s “civil disobedience” pave the way for significant events later in history?
Vlad [161]

In "Civil Disobedience," Thoreau championed the idea that if a government is not going to improve itself, then it is the duty of the people to refuse to support it. This paved the way for non-violent protests, such as those led by Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr
