Tanaka Hisashige was one of Japan's most revolutionary inventors and engineers during the Meiji Period. He is known for his company, Toshiba. One of his most notable works are his karakuri dolls which he made when he was still 20 years old. These dolls were powered by springs, pneumatics (gas or air pressure) and hyrdraulics (liquid pressure). The dolls are capable of complex movement. These dolls can also shoot arrows!
