Answer: 1. SANCA was launched in mid-2014 by the Inclusive Violence and Crime Prevention Programme, a joint South African-German initiative implemented by GIZ and its South African partners as part of German Development Cooperation with South Africa. In March 2017, VCP and the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the handover of the site management to the department.

2. SANCA has positively impacted South Africa.  SANCA strives to address substance abuse and various addictions through the provision of specialised education, prevention, treatment and aftercare services to all people, thereby enhancing the quality of life and helping to restore their self-respect and dignity.
