What is the missing numerator in the equivalent fraction? The mixed number 3 one-half is equivalent to a fraction with a denomin
Alex

7 is the missing numerator in the equivalent fraction with a denominator of 2.

<u>Step-by-step explanation</u>:

The mixed fraction is 3 1/2.

  • Convert it into a proper fraction to get a equivalent fraction.
  • Multiply the denominator 2 with 3 and then add 1 to the answer.

⇒ 3 1/2 = ((3\times2) + 1)/2

⇒ 3 1/2 =7/2

∴ The numerator of the equivalent fraction is 7.

sdas [7]

Answer:

Part a) The equation for the volume of the film canister is

32\pi=\pi r^{2}(8)

Part b) The radius of the film canister is 2\ cm

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The complete question is</em></u>

A film canister in the shape of a cylinder has a height of  8 centimeters and a volume of 32π cubic centimeters.

a. Write an equation for the volume of the film canister.

b. What is the radius of the film canister?

Part a) Write an equation for the volume of the film canister

we know that

The volume of a cylinder is equal to

V=\pi r^{2} h

where

r is the radius of the circular base

h is the height of the cylinder

we have

V=32\pi\ cm^3

h=8\ cm

substitute

32\pi=\pi r^{2}(8) ----> equation for the volume of the film canister

Part b) What is the radius of the film canister?

we have

32\pi=\pi r^{2}(8)

32\pi=8\pi r^{2}

Simplify

Divide by 8π both sides

4=r^{2}

square root both sides

r=2\ cm

As you can see from my diagram, oh wait

use pythagorean theorem to find the height of the paraoellogram
ok, so the hytponuse is 5 and one leg is 4
4²+x²=5²
16+x²=25
x²=9
x=3

so the heights of those triangles are 3

we got 6 of those triangles and 1 rectangle
6 heights are 3 and bases are 4

for the rectangle, height is 3 and base is 4

so total area=(6)(1/2)(3)(4)+(3)(4)=36+12=48 squar inches
