The slave trade happens with both sides. The Arabs have been enslaving Africans for generations, nearly 1,300 years. Europe, or specifically Britain, had been involved with the trade for a few hundred years only. Both Arabs and European traders would trade African Kings goods such as tobacco, paper, spices, gunpowder, and firearms for captured African villagers or warriors. The Europeans would transport the Africans across the Atlantic, with a proportion of 2 out of 3 Africans being men. However, the Arabs had a proportion of 2 women for every man. So, to sum it up, the Europeans sold the Africans to Americans for manual labor, while the Arabs sold the Africans for sex or other reasons.
