The creation of the articles of confederation proved the fact that is was weak, it didn't allow the central government to raise taxes, it led to an increase in state taxes, most of the powers that the current government has in this day and age were given to the state governments, but there wasn't a lot of trading since it was confined to the state, and the states were more or so different than others, different currency, different alliances, which leades to Shay's Rebellion, which raises concern among the colonies that we should opt in for a federal system of government.

What precedent did George Washington set by refusing to run for the presidency a third time?
Setler [38]
George Washington set the precedent of presidents serving two terms in office.

Every president following Washington did not seek a third term in office until Franklin Delano Roosevelt did in 1940. Roosevelt's breaking with the tradition along with the increased power in the executive branch led to the passage of the 22nd Amendment.
