vampirchik [111]

Genetic predisposition is a characteristic that makes certain people more susceptible to a particular disorder or condition.

However, the impact of this characteristic can be managed through lifestyle choices. If a person with a genetic predisposition to alcoholism is raised in Saudi Arabia (in a culture where he has no access to alcohol) he would have no trigger, and this disorder would not become present.

The illegal killing of animals, called poaching, threatens the population of species across Africa. How can animals best be prot
posledela

Answer:Animal poaching is the worst thing you can imagine for an animal species. We should not tolerate the aimless slaughter of these majestic beautiful creatures. Animal poaching is a barbaric, unnecessary and cruel way to gain easy money in our modern world. We need to stop this now before it’s too late. Many animals are affected by poaching and face extinction and both you and our governments need to do something now.

The demand for tiger parts poses the largest threat to tiger survival. This animal is being hunted to extinction for its skins, bones, teeth and claws, by snares that tare through flesh, fire arms and poison. The parts are highly valued for (TAM) Traditional Asian Medicine. Trafficking tiger parts is highly illegal. In the last 10 years 1000 tigers have been killed to traffic their parts to meet consumer demand in Asia. A single tiger part can fetch as much as $50 000 on the black market, which creates an even bigger target of these animals. This shows that people are effecting the tiger’s last chance of survival, they have been severely injured or killed for the black market. They are shipped off to make quick cash. The snares rip through flesh and grasp on to the bone so tight that it drives the tigers into eating or ripping their own claw off. Help us bring back the tigers. Help us save them from extinction, only with your help, can we make a difference and stop the poaching.

The African elephant, one of the big 5, native to 37 African countries, and is the largest land mammal is unbelievably threatened by the cruelty of human poaching. We have forced the largest land mammal on earth to be vulnerable and soon there will be none left because of how cruel our actions have been. Poachers are their biggest threat without doubt. Soon there will be no big five, no elephant, lion, rhino, leopard or buffalo. Elephants have no natural predators except humans. Their large distinct tusks on either side of the elephant’s face make them an obvious and trophied target to poachers. Their tusks once used to forage for food and water have long been desired by people. Poachers hack the tusks off elephants leaving them dead or for dead. They are killed for their ivory (tusks) which is then sold to make anything from jewellery to objects of cultural or religious significance. In the current rates of poaching, elephant populations will not last another 10 years in the wild. Elephants have low reproductive rates, so their pregnancies last longer than most other mammals.

They carry their calf for 20 months and usually bear one calf every 2-4 years. Reproductive rates are not sustainable to population numbers at current poaching rates. Approximately 420,000 remain; yearly 8% of population is poached. Elephants do not need to be killed even when the ivory has been removed: it is the distorting and horrible way they do it leaving the elephant dead. Elephants are not even given a chance because of the low reproductive rates. It has to survive the long pregnancy for the baby to have the chance of being born. Why would people even consider poaching? It is a pointless concept of greed and guilt. Save the elephant before it is taken out of our hands and never to be seen again.

Early explorations have enticed poachers to consume this species with the excuses for killing animals for science. The mountain gorilla, magnificent primate, a humanlike creature, built by pure strength, is what the poachers think of them. They are seen as a trophy. In the first 20 years of its discovery European and American scientists and trophy hunters killed over 50 mountain gorillas. Poaching them as food today is extremely rare, but poaching as trophies is not. Infants continue to jeopardize the mountain gorilla survival. In the 60’s and 70’s gorillas were poached and sold to foreigners as trophies and live specimens, but none survived in captivity. The deaths of gorillas are now a result of unselective hunting by snares, mainly set to catch antelope and wild pig. The real remaining threat is either the killing of the gorillas or the capture of infants for live animal trade. Recent incidents, took place in 2002, 2004, 2007. The most recent case in 2013 of an infant’s recovery outside Virunga National Park, abandoned in a field with a clear sign it was held in captivity. Named Matabisi, tests revealed it was a mountain gorilla. It now joins other orphaned infants under continuous care. Poachers hunt to trophy, to fulfil their need to kill, however they are nothing but murderers. Infants are sold on the black market illegally to wealthy animal collectors. This clearly states what poachers are doing and shows the cruelty of this issue. As we speak these creatures are left vulnerable and defenceless, knowing you were going to be slaughtered.
