EXCERPT FROM NIGHT
By: Elie Wiesel

“The beloved objects that we had carried with us from place to place were left behind in the wagon and, with them, finally, our illusions. Every few yards, there stood an SS man, his machine gun trained on us. Hand in hand we followed the throng.”

How many of the monsters or threats to Odysseus in this part of the epic are female? What do you think of the way women are port
ki77a [65]
Four of the threats that faced Odysseus were women; Calypso, Circe, the Sirens and Scylla. The women are either represented as promiscuous or dangerous because of their actions towards Odysseus. Calypso and Circe both sleep with Odysseus even after causing him harm. Also, the Sirens wanted to harm Odysseus and his shipmen while Scylla ate six of the men. I think most women in the epic so far are shown as not respected and the fact that they are easily defeated by Odysseus shows that they are not as powerful.

Which of the following lines from Antigone shows a result of Creon’s change in fortune, or his peripeteia?
AysviL [449]
I believe that the lines from Antigone that show a result of Creon's change in fortune, or his peripeteia are:
Thy wife, the mother of thy dead son here,
Lies stricken by a fresh inflicted blow.
It shows that both his son and his wife are dead because of his bad decisions.
