Somatic cells are those cells that make up the set of tissues and organs of a living being, which undergo a process of cell differentiation that allows them to fulfill specific functions.

They are derived from stem cells during embryonic development, therefore they undergo a process of proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis, which is why these cells manage to differentiate and perform many specific tasks.

Somatic cells are the most numerous in organisms. They are diploid and have genetic information in their nucleus. In humans, they are made up of 23 pairs of chromosomes, which is equal to 46 chromosomes. .

Somatic cells can multiply and maintain the same genetic information, but only a limited number of times. Hence, its main function is to ensure the proper functioning of the body through the fulfillment of various tasks.

Therefore, we can conclude that somatic cells are those that are responsible for the formation of tissues and organs in multicellular living beings, in a limited way they can multiply and fulfill specific functions.
