Help with #1 & #3 Domain Range End behavior

Mathematics

Answer:

see picture and explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

on the graph if theres closed dots you use brackets [ ] for domain and range

closed dots mean the line stops on those exact numbers

if there's open dots or arrows you use parenthesis ( ) for domain and range

open dots or arrows means that the line continues forever (infinity)

Domain is the x values

on the first one the dots on each end are at -4 and 4 on the x axis

on the second one, since its arrows it continues forever so its negative infinity to infinity

(always remember for domain and range to put the smaller number first)

Range is the y values

the first one the dots stop at -1 and 5 at the ends on the x axis

on the 2nd question there are arrows so it never stops so its negative infinity to infinity again

End value is just what the graph is doing. so for both questions the graph starts at the lowest left corner which means its negative infinity going to negative infinity on that side from the origin (middle of graph) and then it rises from infinity to infinity on the other side of the origin. started positive and continuing to go positive.

I might have explained the end behavior incorrectly since its been awhile since I've done this. look up "end behavior" and look at images to get a better understanding

An electrician cuts a 136 ft piece of cable. one piece is 16 ft less that 3 times the length of the other pieces. Find the lengt
VMariaS [17]

The lengths of the pieces are 37 ft and 98 ft.

-

Steps I took:

I assumed that the 136 ft is cut into two pieces.

The two pieces would represent x & y, which would then be y = 3x - 16 and x + y = 136.

Then, x = 38 ft and y = 98 ft which would be your answer.

-

Hope this helped! :)
