If x2 - y2 = 12 and x - y = 4, what is the value
ira [324]

Step-by-step explanation:

x²-y²=12

(x-y)(x+y)=12

but x-y=4

4(x+y)=12

x+y=12/4

x+y=3

lets make x the subject of the formula

x=3-y

since x-y=4

(3-y)-y=4

3-y-y=4

-2y=1

y=-1/2

then x=3-y

x=3-(-1/2)

x=(6--1)/2

x=7/2

therefore; x²+2xy+y

=(7/2)²+2×7/2×-1/2+(-1/2)

=49/4-7/2-1/2

=(49-14-2)/4

=33/4

=8.25

=8

Triangle ABC has vertices A(5, 3) , B(3, 7) , and C(1, 4) . Triangle ABC is dilated, and the vertices of the image are A′(7.5, 4
Reika [66]
Given that triangle ABC has been dilated to form triangle A'B'C' and the vertices of ABC are A(5,3), B(3,7), C(1,4) and vertices of A'B'C' isA'(7.5, 4.5), B'(4.5, 10.5), C'(1.5,6)
then the scale factor for dilation will be as follows:
Taking corresponding vertices SAY A (5,3) and A'(7.5, 4.5)
the scale factor will be:
7.5/5=4.5/3=1.5
