there are 3 less 6 person cars than 4 people cars which can be written as:

A - 3 = B

there are also 92 total people that can go on max on the whole ride which can be written as:

4A + 6B = 92

Now we need to subsitute in our first equation into the second, so:

4A + 6(A-3) = 92

then distrbute the 6:

4A + 6A - 18 = 92

bring like terms to the same side & consolidate:

4A + 6A = 92 + 18

10A = 110

divide the right by # of A to get a single term :

A = 110/10

A= 11
