The slope is -5/3 but the equation is y=-5/3x+b. Find this by flipping and switching the other slope to opposite. OG slope: 3/5 so perpendicular line would have a negative slope and the 3 and 5 are switched. Make sense?

First, write your equation in slope-intercept form, or form y = mx + b:
1) Solve for 5y:
3x - 5y = -4
3x + 4 = 5y
2) Divide everything by 5:
y = 3x/5 + 4/5
Now, we got it.
In this line slope is 3/5 because it is multiplier for x, and, the rule is that
m * p = -1
where m is the slope of the line, and p is the slope of the line perpendicular to this.
3) Now, solve there for p by plugging in value for m:
p = -1/m
p = -1 / (3/5) = -5/3
4) Now just write the equation in this form: y = px + b:
y = -5x/3 + b
This is the equation of the line perpendicular to the given one. Hope this helps!

PLZ HELP Find the value of x that makes ΔXYZ~PQR
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

x = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

\triangle XYZ \sim\triangle PQR... (GIVEN) \\\therefore \frac{XY}{PQ} = \frac{YZ}{QR}.. (csst) \\\therefore \frac{20}{30}= \frac{x+6}{21}\\\therefore \frac{2}{3}= \frac{x+6}{21}\\\therefore \frac{2\times 21}{3}= {x+6}\\\therefore 14= {x+6}\\\therefore 14-6= {x}\\\therefore 8= {x}\\\huge \orange{\boxed {\therefore x = 8}}

Jim read book for 3/5 hours.He done at 1018. <br>At what time did he start reading a book?
Andrei [34K]

Step-by-step explanation:

Well, 3/5 hours equals 30 secs.This means that he started 3:30 hours ago .To find out what time was it you have to subtract 3:30 from the finishing time. So, 10:18-3:30=6:48.If you have any further questions please contact me.

Your sincerely,

Mariana and Bethany disagree about whether the set of polynomials is closed under addition, subtraction, and multiplication, as
allochka39001 [22]

A = 5x − 1 and B = 2x

A + B = 5x - 1 + 2x

= 7x - 1

A − B = 5x - 1 - 2x

= 3x  - 1

A • B = (5x - 1) *2x

= 10x2 + (-2x)

all 3 are polynominals

so Mariana is correct.
