1. Inclined
Inclined means to be favorable towards something. In this sentence Jacob is not inclined or not in favor of switching spots with anyone else in the car.
2. incisive
Incisive means cutting (think incision like in surgery). In this case the word biting is the context clue that tells us incisive, or cutting, would be the best fit.
An extended metaphor provides the overarching structure for the poem. The speaker begins by describing a spider that “stood isolated,” but that “launch'd forth” its threads to make its web over and over again. The poem's second stanza then establishes that the spider is a metaphor for the speaker's soul.
