Deveau and Wright discovered that the ship's register, clock and navigation aids were missing from the Mary Celeste.

After this ship was found sailing unsteadily, a captain directed Deveau and Wright to go onboard and see what was wrong. When they did, they found out that it was deserted.

The only lifeboat that was in the ship was missing, the clock and the navigation instruments were also gone.
