Christopher Columbus was a Portuguese explorer who discovered Central America and the Native Americans living there. He originally was supposed to sail to the coast of India. But, instead ended up arriving at the East coast of America. He called the native tribes living in the area Indians. His discovering of the americas affected the native americans living there because of the europeans claiming and taking over most of the americans land.
