One: Because they were suspicious of them, they committed treason, preached that the end of the world was soon to come, practiced their religion in secret, had their own cemeteries, and refused to serve in the army.

Two: Jesus had many followers and was said to teach that God was greater than the emperor, and the Romans feared that He might lead an armed revolt against the government. The Romans persecuted Christians by imprisoning them or putting them to death.
