The extravagant parties, luxurious car, the vast amount of wealth. Everything that is Gatsby is extravagant and almost seems to be imagined by a seventeen-year-old's stereotype of a multi-millionaire. That is why Nick describes Gatsby as being the type of man "a seventeen-year-old boy would invent”.

Is the following statement true or false?
Lubov Fominskaja [6]
It is false that the organization of a literary work is the central message or insight that it conveys.
This definition actually refers to the theme, not the organization of the text. Although sometimes organization can be quite important (usually in poems), in prose the theme or the plot are far more important.

In "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note," why did Mark Twain most likely create the character Henry Adams as an American living in England?
ikadub [295]
Twain likely made Henry Adams an American in England to show how far removed he was from what was viewed as proper English society. As an American he would be considered a backwards outsider that could not possibly fit in. That all changes when he receives the bank-note and then can afford to buy his way into the English society.
