Describe the error in writing an equation of the line that passes through the point $\left(3,\ 4\right)$ and is parallel to the

line $y\ =\ 2x+1$ . A note marked incorrect. The first line reads y equals 2 x plus 1 comma ordered pair 3 comma 4. Second line reads 4 equals m times 3 plus 1. Third line reads 1 equals m. Fourth line reads The line y equals x plus 1 is parallel to the line y equals 2 x plus 1. The $x$ - and $y$ -coordinates are substituted for the wrong variables. The $y$ -intercept $b$ should be solved for instead of the slope $m$ . To find $m$ , standard form must be used instead of slope-intercept form. Once the new slope is found, the new $y$ -intercept must also be found. Question 2 Correct the error. The line $y\ =\ $ is parallel to the line $y\ =\ 2x+1$ and passes through the point $(3,4)$ .

Gave needs 60 liters of 40% acid solution he currently has 20% solution and 50% solution how many liters of each does he need to
Rudiy27
\bf \begin{array}{lccclll}
&amount&concentration&
\begin{array}{llll}
concentration\\
amount
\end{array}\\
&-----&-------&-------\\
\textit{20\% sol'n}&x&0.20&0.20x\\
\textit{50\% sol'n}&y&0.50&0.50y\\
-----&-----&-------&-------\\
mixture&60&0.40&(60)(0.40)
\end{array}

notice above...  we use the decimal format for the percentage, thus 20% is really just 20/100, 40% is 40/100 and so on.

so.. whatever "x" and "y" amounts are, we know they have to add  up to 60 Liters, that is x+y = 60

and whatever the concentration amount of each is, it must add up to (60)(0.40), that is 0.20x+0.50y=(60)(0.40)

thus    \bf \begin{cases}
x+y=60\implies \boxed{y}=60-x\\\\
0.20x+0.50y=(60)(0.40)\\
----------\\
0.20x+0.50\left( \boxed{60-x} \right)=(60)(0.40)
\end{cases}

solve for "x", to see how much of the 20% solution will be needed

what about "y"?  well, y = 60 - x

Select the equation that has the same solution as the equation below.<br> 5^(2x-5)= 125
Ahat [919]

The equation that has the same solution as 5^{(2x-5)} = 125 is: C.64 = 2^{(3x - 6)}

<h3>How to Solve Equations having Exponents</h3>
  • To solve such, simplify the bases so that the base on the right equals the base on the left.
  • Then solve the equation for the variable.

Given:

5^{(2x-5)} = 125\\\\5^{(2x-5)} = 5^3\\

  • The bases will cancel out

2x - 5 = 3

  • Solve for x

2x = 3 + 5

2x = 8

x = 4

The solution of 5^{(2x-5)} = 125 is 4.

Thus:

64 = 2^{(3x - 6)}\\\\2^6 = 2^{(3x - 6)}\\\\6 = 3x - 6\\6 + 6 = 3x\\12 = 3x\\4 = x\\x = 4

Therefore the equation that has the same solution as 5^{(2x-5)} = 125 is: C.64 = 2^{(3x - 6)}

3 pumps, working 8 hours a day, can empty a tank in 2 days. how many hours a day must 4 pumps work to empty the tank in 1 day?
nexus9112 [7]
It takes 3 pumps 16 hours to empty a tank
Meaning it takes 48 hours for one pump by its self
So if there are 4 pumps
48/4 it would take them 12 hours
They would need to work 12 hours to do it in 1 day
