Buddha is a mind, a facility of perception, developed with effort and method. Buddha is not an entity. So, to “worship” a Buddha is to misunderstand the entirety of Buddhist practice.
Buddhism is not a practice of “worship”. It is rather a practice of development and determination to attain a particular perspective or state of mind, named Buddha. Shakyamuni (of the Shakya clan - great saint) was the first man to attain this state fully and then teach students how to develop perception in order to achieve the same.
Buddhists belive in karma or ' intentional action '. worship helps Buddhists to transform their minds through positive action so that they can escape the cycle of birth , death and rebirth , known as samsara and gain enlightenment .
