How to solve an inverse operation that has two variables like this

Mathematics

This exercise has nothing to do with inverse operations.

Let <em>L</em> represent the number of lawns Tyler mows, and <em>D</em> the number of dogs he walks.

If he earns $20 for each lawn mown, then mowing <em>L</em> lawns earns him $20<em>L</em>. For example, if he mows 1 lawn, he gets $20. If he mows 2 lawns, he earns $40. And so on.

The same could be said about dog-walking. If he earns $15 for each walk, then walking <em>D</em> dogs is worth $15<em>D</em>. For example, if he walks 1 dog, he gets $15; for 2 dogs, $30; and so on.

If after a week he has earned a total of $260, then

20<em>L</em> + 15<em>D</em> = 260

which can optionally be simplified a bit by dividing through both sides by 5 to get

4<em>L</em> + 3<em>D</em> = 52

Since you mentioned "inverse", I suspect you interpreted the question as asking how many lawns Tyler mowed and how many dogs he walked. This is impossible, you cannot determine exactly how many lawns or dogs were involved. But there are only 4 ways this can happen, since <em>L</em> and <em>D</em> must be counting numbers.

<em>D</em> = 4, <em>L</em> = 10

<em>D</em> = 8, <em>L</em> = 7

<em>D</em> = 12, <em>L</em> = 4

<em>D</em> = 16, <em>L</em> = 1

You put $2000 in an account with a simple interest rate of 1.5%. How long does it take for the account to earn $60?
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

2 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Simple interest is calculated using the formula:  I = prt, where I = the amount of interest earned, p = principal amount, r = rate and t = time.  In this case, you know the principal = $2000, the rate  = 1.5% or 0.015 and the I = $60, so you are solving for time 't':

I = prt or $60 = $2000(0.015)t

Simplify:  60 = 30t

Divide both sides by 30:  60/30 = 30t/30 or t = 2 years.

2X -5+3a - 5X +2a<br> Help
Katen [24]

Answer:

1. 2x can be seen as +2x therefore when you put it as +2x-5x the answer will be - 3x

2. +3a+2a also equals +5a

3. - 5 is left alone and there is no other similar expression

Put them together the answer becomes

-3x+5a-5

It doesn't have to be the same order of format but the numbers must be as such

Find the value of x.
lina2011 [118]

Answer:

x = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>All triangles add up to 180 degrees</u>

46 + 12x - 5 + 67 = 180

46 + 12x - 5 + 67 - 67 - 46 + 5 = 180 - 67 - 46 + 5

12x / 12 = 72 / 12

x = 6

Answer:  x = 6

Cos9x - cos5x = -2sin2x.sin7x
sin17x - sin3x = 2sin7x.cos10x
so f(x) = \frac{-2sin2x.sin7x}{2sin7x.cos10x} =\frac{-sin2x}{cos10x}
