ANSWER

ABOUT THIS TUTOR ›

We know that Area = Length x Width

in this case, L = 2W + 3 and A = 150in2

so, 150in2 = W x (2w + 3)

150in2 = 2W2 + 3W

rearranging, 2W2 + 3W - 150in2 = 0

we need to use the quadratic formula to solve this equation

that formula is [-b±(√b2 -4ac)]/2a

a = 2, b = 3, c = -150

inserting those values, we get [-3±(√32 -4•2•-150)]/2•2

which becomes (-3±√1209)/4

we get (-3 ± 34.771)/4

we can discard the negative value, because no length can be negative

so, W ≅ 7.942 inches

then L = 2W + 3 ≅ 18.886 inches

Proof: 7.942in x 18.886in ≅ 149.99

HOPE IT'S HELPFUL

THANK YOU

vivado [14]

Hi there!

Here's the important information we know:

10 lbs of crawfish → 24 oz of seasoning

a) To answer the question in a, you will need to use the cross product method:

10 lbs of crawfish → 24 oz of seasoning

1 lbs of crawfish → X oz of seasoning

24 ÷ 10 = X oz of seasoning

2.4 = X oz of seasoning

Answer a) : This means that 1 lb of crawfish requires 2.4 oz of seasoning.

b) We now know that for 1 lb of crawfish you need 2.4 oz of seasoning, so in order to know how much seasoning you need for 30 lbs of crawfish, you need to multiply 2.4 by 30 :

2.4 × 30 = 72

Answer b): You would need 72 oz of seasoning for 30 lbs of crawfish.

c) We know that for 1 lb of crawfish you need 2.4 oz of seasoning, so in order to know the maximum number of pounds of crawfish that can be cooked with 36 oz of seasoning, you need to divide 36 by 2.4 :

36 ÷ 2.4 = 15

Answer c): You can cook a maximum of 15 pounds of crawfish with 36 oz of seasoning.

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there's anything just let me know! :)
