Catalase is an enzyme which is produced naturally in almost all organisms. This enzyme helps the body to break down hydrogen peroxide (a harmful oxidizing agent) into water and oxygen, it can also prevent the accumulation of CO2 bubbles in the blood. With only one catalase, millions of hydrogen peroxide molecules are converted.
The evolution of organisms always benefits characteristics that are useful to survive and this powerful enzyme represents exactly that.
