Mira finished 2/5 of a puzzle in 1/ 5 of an hour. At this rate, how many puzzles could she finish in 1 hour
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
If the puzzle was solved in 1/5 hour, we can multiply the time it took to solve one puzzle by 5.

2/5(5/1)
=10/5
=2

So she'll be able to solve 2 puzzles in one hour.

Ladonna is running for city council. She needs to get 5/6 of her votes from senior citizens and 54,000 votes in all to win .how
jasenka [17]
The first step to solve this question is to find out what 5/6 of 54000 is. So we multiply 5/6 by 54000. Why? Because there's the word "of" and "of" is usually associated in multiplication. So:

5/6 × 54000 = 45000.

So now we know that 5/6 of 54000 is 45000. So it means that she needs 45000 from senior citizens. But the question doesn't stop there, it also asks us to solve for the amount of votes she needs to win other than senior citizens.

Now we know that 45000 seniors need to vote for her we subtract 45000 to the total amount which is 54000.

54000 - 45000 is 9000.

So it means that she needs 9000 voters other than senior citizens to win the election for city council.
