Values of x and y will be 12 and 5 respectively.

It's given in the question,

  • Three points Q, R and S are collinear.
  • Coordinates of Q → (2, 0)
  • Coordinates of R → (8, 3)
  • Coordinates of S → (x, y)
  • QR : RS = 3 : 2

Since, expression for the coordinates of a point (h, k) which divides the segment joining points (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) in the ratio of m : n is given by,

h = \frac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n}

k = \frac{my_2+my_1}{m+n}

Since, R is a point on segment QS dividing in the ratio of 3 : 2, coordinates of R will be,

8=\frac{3x+2\times 2}{3+2}

8=\frac{3x+4}{5}

3x+4=40

3x=36

x=12

Similarly, 3=\frac{3y+2\times 0}{3+2}

3=\frac{3y}{5}

3y=15

y=5

       Therefore, values of x and y will be 12 and 5 respectively.

Find x<br> 5[x^2]+5[x]-x^2-x=2004
a_sh-v [17]

The answer is either x=\frac{-1}{2}+\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{2005}\\ or x=\frac{-1}{2}+\frac{-1}{2}\sqrt{2005}

To solve: Let's solve your equation step-by-step.

5x2+5x−x2−x=2004

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

4x2+4x=2004

Step 2: Subtract 2004 from both sides.

4x2+4x−2004=2004−2004

4x2+4x−2004=0

Step 3: Use quadratic formula with a=4, b=4, c=-2004.

x= −b±√b2−4ac /2a

x= −4±√32080 /8

x=\frac{-1}{2}+\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{2005}\\ or x=\frac{-1}{2}+\frac{-1}{2}\sqrt{2005}

How do you solve x+6/11=10/11
laiz [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x+6/11=10/11

This is a linear equation, because x has no power, so it will be solved by making x the subject of the equation.

Make x the subject

x+6/11=10/11

x=-6/11+10/11

x=10/11-6/11

Since both fractions have the same denominator, the LCM remains 11

x=(10-6)/11

x=4/11

To check if the answer is correct, we substitute x for 4/11 in the equation. And both sides of the equation must be equal

x+6/11=10/11

4/11+6/11=10/11

(4+6)/11=10/11

10/11=10/11

Sidana [21]

Answer:

$21.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Mr. Gutierrez had $100 to purchase candy for his students that completed their work.

He bought 8 bags of jolly ranchers

Each bag of jolly ranchers cost $3.25.

Hence, the cost of 8 bags of jolly ranchers = 8 × $3.25

= $26

He also bought 25 bags of assorted chocolate and each bag of assorted chocolate cost $2.10.

Hence, the cost of 25 bags of assorted chocolates = 25 × $2.10

= $52.5

Therefore, the amount of money Mr. Gutierrez has left over after these purchases is calculated as:

Total amount - Sum of ( Cost of 8 bags of jolly ranchers + 25 bags of assorted chocolates)

= $100 - ( $26 + $52.5)

= $100 - $78.50

= $21.50

Tara is the editor of the school newspaper. She tries to devote about 1/2 of the paper to news, 1/3 to pictures, and the remaind
Klio2033 [76]
5/6 of the paper is devoted to news and pictures

first I made the fraction have equal denominators which was 6 by doing that I multiplyed the numerator and the denominator

1/2
1×3=3
2×3=6
therefore 1/2 being equivalent to 3/6

1/3
1×2=2
3×2=6
therefore 1/3 being equivalent to 2/6

now you would be able to add the numerators, so 2+3=5
therefore being 5/6 of the paper is devoted to news and pictures
