Answer these questions for To Kill A Mockingbird and i will give 100 points plus brainliest
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

3: Scout would chew gum she found in a tree because it tasted good & it was Wrigley's double mint.

4: Jem got mad at Scout for chewing gum because it was found at the Radley place.

5: I would chew gum from the tree because I believe that the Radleys aren't as horriffic as everyone says they are.

6: I think that one of the Radleys put the gum there for kids in general, not just for Scout, whether it was mal intended or not.

7: It's not right for the kids to act out the Radleys because they have no idea what actually happened, just gossip from neighbors. It is rude to make fun of people's lives.

8.) Scout defines the term as a "strict commitment to the Baptist religion without allowing for any bending of those views in any situation," or "all enjoyment is bad."

9.) Miss Maudie is the Finches' neighbor and is one of their (the children's) good friends

10.) Jem lost his pants because the children snuck into the Radley's back yard. They got scared because they saw a shadow, and frantically trying to get out, thinking it was Boo Radley's shadow, Jem's pants got stuck and he lost them in the process.

11.) The children would snoop around the Radley's place because they wanted to catch a glimpse of Boo Radley's face.

12.)  One of the Radleys fired a gun at the children because he was aware that someone was in his back yard and it was either a child, an animal, or a negro.

13.) Jems pants showed up folded neatly and stitched up at the top of the fence

14.) The other children recieve two figures carved in soap, followed by chewing gum, a spelling bee medal, and an old pocket watch.

15.) They know the gifts are for them because the two carved figures are them.

16.) Mr. Radley plugged the knothole in the tree because the tree is dying.

Which of the following claims does Eric Deggans develop in the text ?
Reika [66]

Assuming the text is "Learning How to Code-Switch: Humbling, but Necessary" (2013) and you had to choose between the following claims:

<em>A. Code-switching keeps people from expressing themselves by promoting one correct style of communication.</em>

<em>B. It is important to recognize that code-switching can help a person succeed and celebrate all aspects of their identity.</em>

<em>C. The United States consists of great cultural variety and no one should be discriminated against for speaking a certain way.</em>

<em>D. Many successful people have used code-switching, but it is unfair to expect minorities to have multiple communication styles.</em>

Deggans' thesis is that it is important to recognize that code-switching can help a person succeed and  celebrate all aspects of their identity (B).

<u>Code-switching</u> means alternating between languages or communication styles according to the context (cultural, professional, casual, etc.).

Deggans' testimony shows that being able to code-switch is what has helped him to integrate social groups which were different from the poor black neighborhood he came from, while maintaining his identity.

This answer is supported by such such quotes as:

  • "expertly navigating another culture wasn’t a  rejection of where I’d come from or a signal that I was any less authentically black;"
  • "it’s a reminder to be fully who you are at all times, while making sure you’re understood well enough to  be valued, respected and considered."

PLEASE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!! What type of figurative language is this? "My eyes left the bottle and looked at the man." Is it an idio
MatroZZZ [7]

Answer:

idiom.

Explanation:

idioms are words or phrases that aren't meant to be taken literally. for example, if you say someone has “cold feet,” it doesn't mean their toes are actually cold. rather, it means they're nervous about something. idioms can't be deduced merely by studying the words in the phrase.

word choice is the use of rich, colorful, precise language that communicates not just in a. functional way, but in a way that moves and enlightens the reader. in good descriptive. writing, strong word choice paints pictures in the reader's mind.
